01 / Solution approach

A fastener is only reliable when the complete joint is considered.

Our construction solution starts with the connection: design load, joint movement, corrosion category, tightening method, inspection plan and future maintenance. We then coordinate the bolt, nut, washer, coating and documentation as one supply package.

Joint-led selectionMatched assembliesSite-ready packagingDocumented compliance

Connection before product

Structural and machinery fasteners should be selected from the joint function: slip resistance, bearing load, anchorage, fatigue, service removal or vibration control.

Matched assemblies

Bolt, nut, washer, thread class, coating and tightening method must work together; substituting one item can change preload, bearing behavior and inspection results.

Exposure-driven material

Interior steelwork, bridges, concrete anchors and heavy equipment need different choices across carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless, duplex and coating systems.

Site installation control

Construction fasteners must survive storage, handling, weather, batch mixing and field tightening, not only laboratory strength tests.

02 / Solution map

See each environment and its fastener package together.

Each highlighted area maps an operating environment to the fastener family and documentation logic used to secure it.

03 / Application systems

Four environments. Four fastening strategies.

Products are positioned inside the joint system where they create value.

High-strength structural bolts, tension control bolts and structural washers for steel construction
Joint focusBeam-to-column moment connectionFastener systemPreloaded Structural Bolting Assembly

Steel construction

Preloaded structural bolting systems

Matched bolt, nut and washer assemblies for primary frames, long-span roofs and seismic steelwork where clamp force and installation repeatability matter.

Typical joints
  • Beam-to-column joints
  • Moment frames
  • Bracing connections
Solution priorities
  • Controlled preload
  • Slip resistance
  • Lot traceability

Fastening system logic

Preloaded structural bolting for primary steel frames and slip-critical joints

Steel construction joints see erection tolerances, faying surface condition, installation sequence, site weather, crane-lift schedules and long-term building movement. The fastener package must create predictable preload and preserve it after coating, handling and tightening.

Joint function: Clamp steel plates, beam-to-column connections, bracing and splice plates so the joint resists slip, transfers load and remains inspectable under the project standard.

Recommended assembly
  • High Strength Structural Bolting Assemblies or Tension Control Bolts matched with Heavy Hex Nuts and Structural Washers.
  • ASTM A563 Structural Hex Nuts or EN 14399 Heavy Hex Nuts selected by the bolt standard and project specification.
  • ASTM F436 / EN 14399 Structural Washers to control bearing surface, washer hardness and assembly compatibility.
  • HDG, zinc flake or project coating selected together with tightening method and friction requirement.
Selection checks
  • Confirm whether the joint is snug-tight, preloaded, slip-critical or bearing-type before choosing the bolt system.
  • Check bolt grade, nut grade, washer hardness, thread class, coating thickness and installation method as one assembly.
  • For TC bolts or preloaded assemblies, confirm storage condition, lubrication state and field inspection method.
Validation evidence
Material certificate and heat number traceabilityBolt / nut / washer assembly compatibility recordHardness, tensile or wedge tensile reportCoating thickness reportPreload or torque-tension verification where specifiedLot-based packing list for site installation

Common field risk: The common mistake is buying bolts, nuts and washers separately because each item looks standard. In preloaded structural joints, mixed grades, coatings or washer hardness can break the assembly logic.

Bridges & infrastructure

Long-life fastening for exposed structures

Corrosion-managed bolting for bridge steelwork, parapets, expansion systems and coastal infrastructure exposed to water, chlorides, traffic vibration and difficult maintenance access.

Typical joints
  • Steel girders
  • Barrier systems
  • Inspection walkways
Solution priorities
  • Corrosion life
  • Fatigue resistance
  • Maintainability

Fastening system logic

Long-life bridge bolting for weather, chlorides, vibration and maintenance access

Bridge and infrastructure fasteners are exposed to rainwater, deicing salts, coastal chlorides, traffic vibration, fatigue loading, access limitations and long maintenance intervals. Many joints must remain inspectable without frequent replacement campaigns.

Joint function: Secure girders, splice plates, barriers, inspection walkways, expansion systems and auxiliary structures while balancing corrosion life, fatigue resistance and future maintainability.

Recommended assembly
  • Weathering Steel Structural Bolts with matching weathering steel nuts for weathering steel bridgework where project design requires compatible patina behavior.
  • A4-80 / SS316 Stainless Hex Bolts, Stainless Hex Nuts and Stainless Flat Washers for exposed and corrosive bridge accessories.
  • Duplex Hex Head Bolts where chloride exposure, higher strength and pitting resistance justify duplex material.
  • Structural bolting assemblies for main steel connections where preload or slip resistance is specified.
Selection checks
  • Confirm whether the bridge uses painted carbon steel, weathering steel, galvanized steel, stainless accessories or mixed materials.
  • Check galvanic interaction between stainless fasteners, weathering steel, aluminum guard systems and coated bridge steel.
  • For fatigue-sensitive locations, review thread runout, grip length, washer face and inspection access.
Validation evidence
Material grade certificateWeathering steel / stainless / duplex grade confirmationCoating or passivation recordDimensional inspection for splice and washer fitCorrosion documentation where specifiedProject lot marking for maintenance traceability

Common field risk: The common mistake is assuming “corrosion resistant” means one material. Bridge fasteners must match the bridge material, exposure zone, fatigue class and maintenance method.

  • Retrofit anchoring
Solution priorities
  • Pull-out capacity
  • Alignment tolerance
  • Site installation

Fastening system logic

Concrete anchoring and baseplate systems for load transfer into foundations

Anchor systems connect steel columns, equipment bases, bridge accessories and heavy machinery to concrete. They are affected by embedment depth, edge distance, concrete condition, grout zone, hole quality, installation torque and corrosion at the exposed thread zone.

Joint function: Transfer tensile, shear and moment loads from steel or equipment into concrete while preserving alignment, leveling, washer bearing and future inspection access.

Recommended assembly
  • ASTM F1554 Anchor Rods or Straight Anchor Bolts with Heavy Hex Nuts and Plate Washers for column baseplates and foundations.
  • Adhesive Anchor Rods for retrofit anchoring where hole cleaning, adhesive chemistry and cure condition are controlled.
  • Expansion Anchors or Wedge Anchors for qualified concrete fixing where load level and approval requirements match the anchor type.
  • Stainless Straight Anchor Rods or stainless anchors for exposed, washdown or corrosive concrete interfaces.
Selection checks
  • Confirm cast-in-place vs post-installed anchor, cracked vs uncracked concrete, edge distance and embedment before selecting the anchor style.
  • Define nut, washer or plate washer dimensions for baseplate slot size, leveling requirement and bearing pressure.
  • For adhesive anchors, installation quality depends on drilling, hole cleaning, adhesive temperature, cure time and installer control.
Validation evidence
Anchor material certificateDimensional report for thread, length and washer packageCoating thickness or stainless grade confirmationProject drawing and embedment confirmationETA / ICC-ES / project approval reference where applicablePacking by column line, baseplate or equipment tag

Common field risk: The common mistake is calling every foundation item an anchor bolt. Cast-in anchor rods, adhesive anchor rods, expansion anchors and baseplate bolt packages solve different problems.

Track shoe bolts, pivot pins and flange bolts for heavy machinery fastening
Joint focusBoom linkage and shock-loaded pivot frameFastener systemClass 10.9 / 12.9 Serviceable Locking Assembly

Heavy machinery

Vibration-resistant equipment connections

Fastening packages for cranes, mining equipment, crushers and material-handling systems subject to shock load, joint movement, repeated service and field replacement.

Typical joints
  • Slew and drive systems
  • Frames and booms
  • Guards and access modules
Solution priorities
  • Anti-loosening
  • High clamp load
  • Service access

Fastening system logic

Shock-load and vibration-resistant fastening for heavy machinery and serviceable equipment

Cranes, excavators, crushers, mining equipment and material-handling systems experience vibration, impact, reversing loads, contamination, field repair and repeated service removal. The fastening system must hold preload without making maintenance impossible.

Joint function: Secure frames, booms, guards, track shoes, drive systems, pivot structures and pipe or hydraulic supports while resisting loosening, fatigue, wear and field replacement damage.

Recommended assembly
  • Grade 10.9 / 12.9 Full Thread Hex Bolts or Hex Flange Bolts with compatible high-strength nuts and washers.
  • Wedge Lock Washers or all-metal Prevailing Torque Nuts where vibration makes loosening a design risk.
  • Track Shoe Bolts for crawler equipment, matched to track shoe geometry and square or special nuts where specified.
  • Pivot Pins, Dowel Pins and U Bolts for linkage alignment, locating and support functions beyond ordinary bolting.
Selection checks
  • Confirm whether the joint is primarily clamping, locating, pivoting, guarding or supporting hydraulic / pipe loads.
  • Check coating friction, locking method, service access and whether removal will damage the mating thread.
  • For 12.9 fasteners, review plating process and hydrogen embrittlement risk before specifying surface treatment.
Validation evidence
Hardness and tensile reportDimensional inspection for thread and bearing faceCoating thickness and friction record where specifiedAnti-loosening validation or locking feature confirmationPin hardness / surface finish report for pivot and dowel partsService-kit packing by equipment model or maintenance task

Common field risk: The common mistake is using the highest strength grade as a universal answer. Heavy machinery joints often fail from loosening, fatigue, wear or service damage rather than simple tensile overload.

04 / Selection logic

Choose the fastening system from the exposure inward.

Strength alone does not define suitability. The correct solution balances mechanical demand with corrosion risk, tightening behavior and access over the structure's life.

05 / Material and coating matrix

Select construction fasteners by joint, exposure and installation method.

Structural steel, bridges, concrete foundations and heavy machinery may all use bolts, nuts and washers, but the correct system changes with preload, corrosion, anchorage, vibration and maintenance access.

Failure modes to control before site installation

  • Preload loss from settlement, embedment, coating relaxation or uncontrolled tightening
  • Slip in preloaded or friction-grip joints due to incorrect assembly or faying surface condition
  • Premature corrosion from water traps, chloride exposure, coating damage or galvanic pairing
  • Hydrogen embrittlement in high-strength electroplated fasteners
  • Anchor pull-out, cone breakout or baseplate movement from incorrect embedment or installation
  • Fatigue cracking in bridge, crane and machinery joints under repeated loading
  • Thread galling in stainless or duplex assemblies without compatible lubrication or surface condition
  • Mixed-lot installation where bolt, nut and washer grades or coatings are not matched

Project documentation that should travel with the fasteners

Construction, bridge and heavy machinery projects should define documentation before the fasteners are released: material certificates, lot traceability, dimensional reports, coating thickness records, hardness or tensile reports, assembly compatibility records and site packing by connection schedule.

For structural bolting, the assembly record matters as much as the individual bolt. For anchors, embedment and washer package details should be tied to drawings. For heavy machinery, service kits should preserve grade, coating and locking method so field replacement does not change the joint behavior.

06 / Joint reliability

Control the failure modes before site installation.

We translate recurring field problems into material, coating, assembly and packaging controls that procurement teams can specify and inspect.

07 / Engineering FAQ

Common construction and heavy machinery fastener questions.

What is the difference between a structural bolt and a normal hex bolt?

A structural bolt is normally selected as part of a bolting assembly with a compatible nut and washer, defined mechanical properties and installation method. A normal hex bolt may share a similar shape, but it does not automatically satisfy preload, slip-critical or structural assembly requirements.

When should tension control bolts be used?

Tension control bolts are useful where the project wants a field-friendly method for preloaded structural joints. They still need compatible nuts, washers, surface condition, storage control and inspection rules.

Are stainless bolts suitable for bridges?

Stainless bolts are suitable for many bridge accessories and exposed structures, especially where corrosion resistance matters. For main structural steel or weathering steel bridges, material compatibility, fatigue class, galvanic corrosion and project specification must be checked.

What should be included in an anchor bolt package?

A practical anchor package includes the anchor rod or bolt, heavy hex nuts, plate washers or structural washers, coating requirement, projection length, embedment details, material certificate, dimensional report and packing by baseplate or equipment tag.

Why do heavy machinery joints loosen even with high-strength bolts?

High tensile strength does not guarantee loosening resistance. Machinery joints need enough preload, correct bearing surface, compatible coating friction, locking strategy and service access. Shock, vibration and joint movement often control the fastener choice.
