An MTC, or material test certificate, records the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the material used for a production batch.
A useful MTC should connect to the production batch through heat number or lot number. Without this connection, traceability becomes weak.
For critical applications such as B7 stud bolts, B8M stud bolts and structural bolts, buyers should request MTCs together with dimensional reports, hardness or tensile records and coating inspection results where applicable.
