Risk increases with high speed installation, dry threads, rough surface finish and matching stainless grades in hex bolt and hex nut assemblies (also socket screws).

Buyers can reduce risk by specifying suitable lubricants, surface finish, thread quality, assembly speed and sometimes different stainless grades for mating parts.
