Product Description

Product Description & Key Specifications

DIN 933 / ISO 4017 full-thread stainless hex head bolts are supplied in SS304 / SS316 and A2-70 / A4-80 grades, with common sizes from M6-M36, passivated finish and matching stainless nuts and washers for project procurement.

Full-thread stainless hex head bolts have thread along the full usable shank length, making them suitable for assemblies that need flexible clamping length, through-bolting with nuts, tapped holes, adjustment range or replacement of multiple bolt lengths with a simpler stock item. In some markets, fully threaded hex bolts are also requested as stainless tap bolts, especially when the buyer needs continuous thread engagement rather than a defined unthreaded grip length.

Compared with partial-thread DIN 931 / ISO 4014 bolts, DIN 933 / ISO 4017 full-thread bolts are easier to use where the exact clamped thickness varies or where the joint requires thread engagement close to the bearing surface. Passivation helps improve the stainless surface after forming or threading, while compatible stainless nuts and washers reduce material mismatch in outdoor, marine, washdown and equipment assemblies.

Selection

Selection Advantages by Application

Solar PV Mounting Systems

Full-thread DIN 933 / ISO 4017 bolts are useful for rails, clamps and bracket connections where adjustable thread engagement is needed. Common RFQ models include M8 x 25, M10 x 30 and M12 x 40 stainless hex bolts. SS304 / A2 suits general outdoor PV projects; SS316 / A4 is preferred for coastal installations.

Renewable energy fasteners

Marine & Coastal Hardware

SS316 / A4 full-thread hex bolts are selected for salt spray, wet outdoor service and chloride exposure. Typical marine RFQs include M10 x 30, M12 x 40 and M16 x 50 stainless hex bolts; A4-80 can be specified when higher stainless strength is required.

Marine fasteners

Construction & Outdoor Structures

Suitable for stainless frames, railing hardware, facade brackets and exposed service panels where full-length thread engagement simplifies installation across different clamped thicknesses. Common models include M8 stainless hex bolts, M10 stainless hex bolts, M12 x 40 and M16 x 50.

Construction fasteners

Railway & Rolling Stock Equipment

Full-thread stainless hex bolts support covers, access panels, brackets and non-primary equipment joints where external hex drive access, corrosion resistance and locking method selection matter. M6 x 20, M8 x 25 and M10 x 30 are often requested for panel and bracket assemblies.

Water Treatment / Washdown Equipment

SS316 / A4 with passivated finish is suitable for pumps, pipe supports, stainless skids and washdown equipment. Common RFQ sizes include M8 x 25, M10 x 30, M12 x 40 and M16 x 50; confirm washer choice, cleanability, crevice risk and certificate requirements before ordering.

FAQ

Common Questions Before RFQ

What is the difference between DIN 933 and DIN 931?

DIN 933 refers to full-thread hex head bolts, while DIN 931 refers to partial-thread hex head bolts. Use DIN 933 / ISO 4017 when full-length thread engagement, adjustment range or through-bolting flexibility is required.

Is ISO 4017 the same as DIN 933?

ISO 4017 is the international standard for full-thread hex head bolts and is commonly used as the modern equivalent reference for DIN 933. Project drawings should confirm the required standard, tolerance and marking.

When should I choose full thread instead of partial thread?

Full-thread bolts are preferred when the assembly needs thread along most of the bolt length, variable clamping thickness or engagement close to the bearing surface. Partial-thread bolts are used when a defined unthreaded shank or grip length is required.

Are full-thread hex bolts also called tap bolts?

In some procurement markets, fully threaded hex head bolts are requested as tap bolts. When sending an RFQ, confirm the standard, diameter, length, material, grade and whether DIN 933 / ISO 4017 dimensions are required.

What DIN 933 stainless bolt sizes are commonly requested?

Common RFQ models include M6, M8, M10, M12, M16 and M20 full-thread stainless hex bolts, with typical order examples such as M6 x 20, M8 x 25, M10 x 30, M12 x 40, M16 x 50 and M20 x 60. Final length, thread pitch and certificate requirements should be confirmed by drawing or purchase specification.

Should I choose SS304 or SS316?

SS304 / A2 is suitable for general corrosion-resistant indoor and outdoor assemblies. SS316 / A4 is preferred for marine, coastal, washdown, chemical or chloride-exposed environments.

Can these bolts be supplied with matching nuts and washers?

Yes. Matching stainless hex nuts, flat washers, spring washers, toothed lock washers or nylon insert lock nuts can be supplied as bolt-nut-washer sets.

Need DIN 933 / ISO 4017 stainless hex bolts?

Send your standard, diameter, length, material, grade, quantity, certificate requirements and whether matching nuts and washers are needed. Our team can confirm full-thread bolt specification and provide a project quotation.
