Product Description

Product Description & Key Specifications

Stainless pan head self tapping screws are available with Phillips and Pozidriv cross recesses for sheet metal panels, trim brackets, covers, light equipment housings and corrosion-resistant assemblies. The pan head provides a broad raised bearing surface where flush installation is not required.

This product follows DIN 7981 / ISO 7049 references in SS304 / SS316 with A2-70 / A4-70 options and ST2.2-ST6.3 sizes. The RFQ should state Phillips or Pozidriv drive, screw diameter, length, point type, pilot hole size, sheet thickness, installation torque and surface-finish requirements.

SS304 / A2 is suitable for general indoor and normal atmospheric environments, while SS316 / A4 is recommended for coastal, washdown, chloride or rail exterior service. Passivation supports stainless surface condition, and polishing may be selected for exposed panels or visible trim hardware.

Selection

Selection Advantages by Application

Sheet Metal Panels and Covers

Pan head self tapping screws are used where a raised head and broad bearing surface are acceptable, such as covers, small brackets and service panels.

Industrial equipment fasteners

Railway Interior Trim and Brackets

SS304 / SS316 DIN 7981 screws support rail interior trim, brackets and equipment panels. A4 stainless can be selected for harsher cleaning or exterior exposure.

FAQ

Common Questions Before RFQ

When should I use pan head self tapping screws?

Use them for sheet metal panels, brackets and covers where a raised head is acceptable and a reusable tapped insert is not required.

What is the difference between DIN 7981 and DIN 7982 screws?

DIN 7981 uses a pan head, while DIN 7982 uses a countersunk head for flush installation.

Can these screws be used in stainless panels?

Yes, but pilot hole size, sheet thickness and galling risk should be considered, especially when stainless is fastened to stainless.

Which material is better for coastal applications?

SS316 / A4 is preferred for coastal, chloride and washdown environments because it provides better pitting resistance than SS304.

Can polished pan head screws be supplied?

Yes. Polished and passivated finishes are available depending on appearance and corrosion requirements.

Need stainless pan head self tapping screws?

Send standard, ST size, length, stainless grade, finish, sheet thickness, pilot hole details and quantity. We can quote DIN 7981 / ISO 7049 screws for panel and trim assemblies.
