Product Description

Product Description & Key Specifications

All-metal prevailing torque nuts are locking nuts used where vibration, dynamic load or elevated temperature makes nylon insert nuts unsuitable. They are supplied to ISO 7042, DIN 980 and ISO 2320 references in carbon steel or alloy steel, with Grade 8 / 10 strength options and M6-M30 size coverage.

The locking function is created by controlled thread deformation or top-lock geometry that generates prevailing torque during installation. Selection should confirm bolt grade, thread class, installation torque, reuse policy, coating, lubrication and whether the assembly operates near heat, vibration or maintenance-sensitive equipment.

Zinc plated nuts are common for general construction and machinery, zinc flake coating supports corrosion protection with controlled coating thickness, and phosphate finish is used for selected industrial or high-friction assemblies. These nuts are frequently specified for rail bogies, construction equipment, machinery frames, engine-adjacent assemblies and structural accessories.

Selection

Selection Advantages by Application

Railway and Vibration Assemblies

All-metal lock nuts are used in selected rail bogie, bracket and equipment connections where vibration resistance is needed and non-metallic inserts are not preferred.

Railway fasteners

Construction Equipment and Machinery

Grade 8 / 10 DIN 980 nuts support machinery frames, guards, chassis brackets and equipment connections exposed to impact or repeated service loads.

Construction fasteners

Heat-Adjacent Industrial Assemblies

Because the locking feature is metal rather than nylon, these nuts are considered for engine-adjacent, exhaust-adjacent or industrial heat environments where the full assembly specification permits them.

FAQ

Common Questions Before RFQ

When should I use all-metal prevailing torque nuts?

Use them when the joint needs resistance to loosening and nylon insert nuts are not suitable because of heat, chemical exposure or project specification.

How do all-metal lock nuts work?

They use controlled thread deformation or top-lock geometry to create prevailing torque as the nut is installed on the bolt or stud.

Are they reusable?

Reuse depends on the standard, torque performance after removal and project rules. Critical assemblies should define a reuse policy before installation.

Which finish should I choose?

Zinc plated is common for general use, zinc flake supports higher corrosion performance with controlled thickness, and phosphate is used for selected industrial assemblies.

What RFQ details are required?

Send standard, size, grade, finish, mating bolt grade, application temperature or vibration conditions, quantity and certificate requirements.

Need all-metal prevailing torque nuts?

Send size, grade, standard, finish, mating bolt or stud, application conditions and documentation needs. We can quote ISO 7042 / DIN 980 lock nuts for railway, machinery and construction equipment assemblies.
