Product Description

Product Description & Key Specifications

Partial-thread hex head bolts have an unthreaded shank section and a threaded end, making them suitable for joints where a defined grip length, shear plane location or cleaner bearing shank is required. This range covers ISO 4014, DIN 931, ASTM F3125 reference and SAE J429 project requirements.

Material options include 40Cr, 42CrMo, SCM435 and 4140 with 8.8 / 10.9 / 12.9 strength grades. Partial-thread bolts are selected for railway brackets, automotive structures, renewable energy supports, heavy machinery and selected structural assemblies where the unthreaded shank should pass through the clamped parts.

HDG is common for outdoor steelwork, zinc flake and Geomet are selected for corrosion performance with controlled thickness, and black oxide is used in controlled machinery environments. RFQs should confirm grip length, thread length, coating, nut/washer system and certificate needs.

FAQ

Common Questions Before RFQ

When should I use partial-thread hex bolts?

Use them when the joint needs a defined unthreaded shank through the clamped parts or a specified grip length.

What is the difference between ISO 4014 and ISO 4017?

ISO 4014 is partial thread, while ISO 4017 is full thread.

Can partial-thread bolts be HDG coated?

Yes. HDG is common for outdoor steelwork, but nut fit and coating thickness should be controlled.

What details are needed for grip length?

Provide overall length, thread length, clamped thickness or drawing so the unthreaded shank is located correctly.

Can structural washers be supplied?

Yes. F436 hardened washers, flat washers, spring washers or wedge lock washers can be supplied when specified.

Need partial-thread hex head bolts with defined grip length?

Send standard, diameter, length, thread length, grade, coating, nut/washer requirements and certificate scope. We can quote ISO 4014 / DIN 931 partial-thread bolts for rail, energy and machinery projects.
