Product Description

Product Description & Key Specifications

Stainless cross recessed countersunk head self tapping screws are used where the screw head must sit flush with a sheet metal, cover plate or exposed panel surface. They are supplied to DIN 7982 / ISO 7050 in SS304 / SS316 with A2-70 / A4-70 grade references and ST2.2-ST6.3 size coverage.

The countersunk head shape is selected for flush finish and reduced snagging, while the self tapping thread forms or cuts its mating thread in suitable sheet metal or pre-drilled substrates. Correct use requires confirming pilot hole size, sheet thickness, drive recess, head angle, material, corrosion environment and installation torque.

SS304 / A2 is suitable for general indoor, architectural and outdoor atmospheric applications. SS316 / A4 is preferred for coastal, chloride, washdown or rail exterior environments. Passivation improves stainless surface condition after manufacturing, while polishing can be specified where exposed appearance matters.

Selection

Selection Advantages by Application

Flush Sheet Metal Fixing

Countersunk self tapping screws are used for access covers, cover plates and sheet metal panels where the screw head must sit flush with the surface.

Construction fasteners

Railway Interior and Exterior Panels

SS304 / SS316 screws support corrosion-resistant rail panel assemblies, trim pieces and exposed fittings. SS316 / A4 can be specified where washdown or chloride exposure is expected.

FAQ

Common Questions Before RFQ

When should I choose countersunk self tapping screws?

Choose them when the screw head needs to sit flush with a panel, cover plate or sheet metal surface.

Should I choose SS304 or SS316?

SS304 is suitable for general corrosion resistance. SS316 is preferred for coastal, chloride, washdown or harsher outdoor environments.

Do self tapping screws need a pilot hole?

Most sheet metal self tapping applications use a prepared pilot hole. Pilot hole size depends on screw size, material and sheet thickness.

What sizes are commonly requested?

Common RFQ sizes include ST2.9, ST3.5, ST4.2, ST4.8, ST5.5 and ST6.3 with project-specific lengths.

Can polished stainless screws be supplied?

Yes. Passivated and polished surface options are available depending on corrosion and appearance requirements.

Need stainless countersunk self tapping screws?

Send standard, ST size, length, material, finish, pilot hole requirement, quantity and packaging needs. We can quote DIN 7982 / ISO 7050 stainless screws for flush sheet metal and panel assemblies.
